The objects on view, collected from the Civil War era to modern-day, range from artillery shells to Zippo, with each is presented along with its captivating backstory. Free admission.
- Don’t miss the temporary exhibit “Wisconsin Was There: Sharing the Legacies of Printmakers Who Served”. On display 3/16 to 6/1. You’ll view the works of more than 20 veteran artists with ties to Wisconsin. Prints displayed range from the Civil War era-commissioned prints for Abraham Lincoln to contemporary work by post-9/11 veterans.

Madison Museum of Contemporary Art (227 State St): Join Madison Museum of Contemporary Art Thursday, Feb. 17 at 7 PM for Film Night in the MMoCA Lecture Hall: The Museum will screen “Mountain Patrol,” a true story about volunteers protecting rare antelope against poachers in the rugged mountains of Tibet. Tickets are $7 or, free for MMoCA members and anyone 18 and younger. The film is in conjunction with the Kenneth Tam installation “Silent Spikes,” on view in the Imprint Gallery through Feb. 27.
