Madison Children's Museum (100 N Hamilton) – Enjoy free play in the Wonderground from 3–6pm, featuring a treat station and scavenger hunt. We’ll be outdoors rain or shine—if severe weather occurs, the treat station will move to the museum lobby inside the front entrance.
Madison Park's Hayrides (Mifflin St. at Wisconsin Ave.) - Madison Parks has a fun stop planned for you! Enjoy a tractor hayride around the Capitol Square. Rides leave approximately every 20 minutes; two hay wagons will be running at the event. ($3.00/person, children 2 and under are free, no reservations required.) Candy spot too!
Movie in the Forum (Forum at Top of State St.) - Stick around after trick-or-treating fun for YOUR Downtown Movie Night with Madison Parks
Madison Police Department (100 Block of State St.) - Outside at “The Forum” at the Top of State. Meet our Downtown Neighborhood officers and get your own police badge. The MPD will have a candy stash in the back of their squad car, so don’t forget to stop for this “trunk-or-treat” favorite!
Madison Reading Project (100 Block of State St.) - Outside at “The Forum” at the Top of State. Come aboard the Big Red Reading Bus and select a free book!
Wisconsin Historical Society (100 Block of State St.) - Stop by the Wisconsin Historical Society for a hands-on activity celebrating our state’s rich history. Learn something new and enjoy a bit of Wisconsin heritage as part of this downtown Halloween tradition!
Wendy Markus (100 Block of State St.) - Stop by to hear Wendy Marcus perform hauntingly fun tunes on her electric violin. Her spooky melodies will set the perfect Halloween mood for kids and grown-ups alike!
Madison Public Library - Central (201 W Mifflin St) – Kids ages 12 and under can stop by the Lower Level for treats, make their own glow-in-the-dark beaded bracelet, and browse spooky and sweet books to take home.You can also make your own glow-in-the-dark beaded bracelet and browse both spooky and sweet books to check out and read together at home!
Madison Senior Center (330 W Mifflin St) – Join the fun at the Madison Senior Center for the Downtown Madison Family Halloween & Older Adult Halloween Bash! Enjoy treats and games for kids, plus a lively costume contest for adults 55+ and music from DJ Andre from 3:30–5:30pm. Bring the whole family and dance to your favorite hits from the ’70s to today!
Overture Center for the Arts (201 State St) – Catch Wayne the Wizard’s spooky and silly magic shows at 4pm and 5pm in the Overture Center Rotunda. Enjoy colorful tricks, comedy ventriloquism, and plenty of audience participation at this special Downtown Madison Halloween performance, supported by Madison’s Central Business Improvement District.
Madison Museum of Contemporary Art (227 State St.) - Visit MMoCA for free family fun featuring temporary tattoos and Halloween-themed coloring pages for kids. Stop by to see the museum decked out in festive décor and join in this favorite downtown tradition!
Artist & Craftsman Supply (203 W. Gorham St.) - Don’t miss Artist Craftsman Supply’s candy and facepainting stations with DIY paint and stencil designs.
Pumpkin Balloon Photo Opp (452 State St. at Peace Park) - Take your cutest Halloween pictures yet at Lisa Link Peace Park—next to the Downtown Visitors Center—with a festive balloon arch as your backdrop. Stop by the window at the Visitors Center to pick up candy before you continue on your way.
Bucky Meet & Greet (452 State St. at Peace Park) – Now's your chance for a special Halloween photo with Bucky at Lisa Link Peace Park! Special appearance by Bucky Badger from 4-5pm.
