Lamb Building

114 State St.
Michelangelo’s Coffee House

Timeless Design

Designed in 1905 by the renowned local firm Claude and Starck, the Lamb Building is a true standout on State Street. Its most eye-catching features are the large, two-story bay windows that project from both the front and back of the building. If you look closely at the upper windows, you can see beautiful leaded glass with diamond patterns and a unique stained-glass shield design. The building's handsome red brick and decorative limestone accents give it a unique and elegant look, setting it apart from its neighbors.

A Buiding with Many Hats

Over its long life, this building has worn many hats, serving the community in a variety of ways. It has been home to a drug store, a men's clothing shop, and a popular bridal boutique in the 1980s. For a time, the upper floors were even used as offices for the bank next door. Since 1997, its most famous tenant has been Michelangelo's Coffee House, a beloved local spot that continues the building's legacy as a vibrant part of State Street.
