City Tree Replacement Spring/Summer 2015
The city will be removing/replanting a number of dead street trees in the State St./Capitol Square area. They are coordinating the stump grinding and replacement planting to minimize the amount of time with empty tree grates. They will try to schedule work first thing in the morning to avoid sidewalk cafes, pedestrians, and road traffic. There may be some short term sidewalk closure when the contractors or city staff are digging at a site.
List of Sites in the BID at link above (Sites with grate rebuilds highlighted in yellow)
State St sites:
For these sites crews will remove the trees starting on Tuesday April 14. They will coordinate the stump grubbing with Streets so the sites will be available to plant sometime in late April/ Early May. We will complete this work in the morning hours as much as we can to avoid pedestrian traffic and sidewalk cafes. It may take a couple days to remove them all (19 trees).
Henry/Gorham sites (grate rebuilds, yellow highlighted):
Rebuilds of the Henry/Gorham grates will tentatively start June 8th or soon after. Forestry will coordinate the stump grubbing with Streets to take place right before the grates are to be reconstructed, the six new trees here will be planted as soon as the grates are finished.
The rest of the trees on the list will be planted around the same time as the State St trees; they will try to plant them all within a one week timeframe.
